Alice’s stories of Wonderland did more than raise a few eyebrows—it landed her in an asylum. Now at 15 years of age, she’s willing to do anything to leave, which includes agreeing to an experimental procedure. When Alice decides at the last minute not to go through with it, she escapes with the White Rabbit to Wonderland and trades one mad house for another: the court of the Queen of Hearts. Only this time, she is under orders to take out the Queen. When love, scandal, and intrigue begin to muddle her mission, Alice finds herself on the wrong side of the chopping block.

My Thoughts
As a long time lover of Alice In Wonderland, I was super excited to learn of a book by a new-to-me-author that features Alice. When it arrived, I couldn’t wait to dive into it. The result? It was a great read to pass the time! This retelling was well written and really captured me as a reader.
I enjoyed visiting with Alice and seeing what happened to her after she left Wonderland. Seeing Alice in the asylum, taking that trip back to Wonderland….I really felt a part of that, like I was following along side Alice, seeing the iconic members of Wonderland. But, it definitely was a darker side to our beloved childhood story…..still, it was a gripping read!
If you are looking for a dark, twisted take on the beloved Wonderland stories, find out what happened to Alice in this debut novel. Ramsay has a talent that is sure to turn out more gripping novels. I can’t wait to see what books she has in store for her new readers in the future. Well done, Ramsay, well done!
