Someone knows Jake’s secret.
Her eyes grew large as her gaze went from his hand to his chest and then down to his jeans. Her gaze paused at his jeans.
“My eyes are up here, sweetheart,” he said with a full-on grin now. Oh, he liked this.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I just got lost in thought—”
“I bet you did.” He leaned against the counter, purposely flexing his muscles. After spending most days in the gym, he knew he looked good. Most of the time he didn’t care so much what a woman thought about it, but for whatever reason, he cared what this one thought. He leaned in so close he could feel the heat coming off her skin.
She kept staring.
“See something you like?” The gravel in his voice surprised him.
Tara locked eyes with him. “What?”
He watched as she realized what he’d said. She pushed past him and moved toward the elevator, then stopped and turned around.
“Katie mentioned Ryan had a brother. She forgot to mention he was an arrogant asshole.”
“Hey, I wasn’t the one staring,”
My Thoughts
This is my first Danielle Pays novel, and it’s certainly not going to be my last. This book is beautifully written! Pays creates a novel that is filled with heart pounding suspense, breath taking tension and two hearts that beat for each other!
Jake, and Tara are amazing characters. The sparks that fly instantly between them shoot from the pages as you follow their journey. The ups and downs of this twist filled story are like watching a movie playing out on the big screen. Jake’s past makes itself known and Tara is thrown into danger. Watching as Jake came to terms with this and seeing him over come his battles to protect Tara was amazing.
This fast paced, romantic thriller will have you wanting more. I have not read the other books in the serious but I wasn’t confused with this story, so it’s easily a stand alone. If you want to know what happens to Tara and Jake, then I highly recommend you grab your own copy of this 4 star read now. Well done, Pays!
