Beckett,

If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have.

I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride.

My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. It’s not fair.

And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart. She’s going to need help.

So if I’m gone, that means I can’t be there for Ella. I can’t help them through this. But you can. So I’m begging you, as my best friend, go take care of my sister, my family.

Please don’t make her go through it alone.

Ryan

My Thoughts
One word: wow. Absolutely breathtaking and emotionally draining. Yarros is a new to me author, and one that I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. She has written this novel and taken me on a journey of pain, strength, hope, love and passion. This book, if you aren’t ready for smiles, tears, heart twisting, emotion, is not for you. Seriously. You need to be ready for ALL THE FEELS with this one.

I absolutely loved Ella and Beckett. They were beautiful together, and apart. As the daughter of a cancer survivor, as well a former military brat (my cancer survivor was a Navyman!), this book hit home for me in SO MANY WAYS. Ella’s pain, was my pain, Beckett’s honor, was my honor. All of it enveloped me and made me a part of their journey. And, Maisy and Colt! Oh how I loved their cute souls! As a mama, I so wanted to wrap Maisy up and just protect her from all the bad things going on in her body. Let’s not forget sweet Havoc! As a fur mama, she was special to me in this story.

I better stop there with my review. It’s so tempting to go on and on and then, I fear, I’ll be giving away more than I should with this one. All I will tell you is this: if you love the military, if you love emotionally draining, heart gripping, captivating novels, then this is absolutely perfect for you. It’s beyond 5 star worthy, and completely unforgettable. Grab your copy of this book now, and be ready for ALL THE FEELS!!! Have lots of tissues handy, and be prepared to neglect daily living until you’re done. Bravo, Rebecca Yarros, bravo!
