Throwback Thursday: Betrayed by Amy Clipston

This post is a little different.  It’s a throwback post to a time when I was first introduced to Amy Clipston’s novels. It was way back when I started my blog, back in 2009. The novel that had me hooked on Amy Clipston’s work was Betrayed. It’s a NASCAR racing romantic novel. When you think of Amy Clipston you think of wholesome Amish fiction. But, before that, there was Betrayed. It’s not considered Christian fiction but it’s a clean romantic, suspenseful read and I was hooked from the first page of that novel. More about that novel is below. You can check out my original review from October 2009 here.

About Betrayed:

Lacy Fowler is distraught when her father and stepmother are killed in a car accident while traveling from Daytona International Speedway to their home in Mooresville, North Carolina. Her anxiety is heightened when champion stock car driver and known playboy Reese Mitchell inherits part of her father’s prestigious team, Southern Racing. Lacey has had a crush on Reese since she was a girl; however, Reese only sees her as his surrogate kid sister and the daughter of his father’s race team business partner.

While snooping through company files, she discovers spreadsheets showing a shortage in the company payroll and other money losses. She also locates a folder containing photos of her father’s car accident. Lacey begins to suspect race team employees are hiding evidence of a scandal or embezzlement. Believing her father was murdered and his race team is in trouble, she drops out of her senior year in college, moves home to Mooresville, and turns to Reese in desperation for help saving the company.

Uniting their pieces of the company, Lacey and Reese take over the race team, banding together to solve the mysteries of her father’s death and the company scandal. The mystery takes an unforeseen turn when the pieces of the puzzle point to Reese’s father, who was Lacey’s father’s best friend.

While revealing the truth, Reese must face his father’s past, and Lacey is forced to explore her feelings for Reese. Can Lacey save the company without losing her heart to Reese? The stakes are high when she is Betrayed.
