About The Book
The beloved author of the Little House books was not only one of America’s great pioneer storytellers but a woman of vibrant faith.
A Prairie Girl’s Faith provides the first extended, in depth discussion of the Christian faith of one of America’s most beloved pioneer women–Laura Ingalls Wilder. Although the faith of the Ingalls’ family pervades books in the Little House series, the more specific details of Laura’s faith have never been fully explored. It took extraordinary pluck for anyone to survive the harshness of frontier life–from the heartbreak of sudden crop losses to murderous storms to unrelenting loneliness. This book reveals how in surviving, the brave Laura drew not just on her character, but found encouragement, strength, and hope in her relationship with God.
My Thoughts
I am usually not one to read anything except fiction books, but when I come across a book about one of my favorite people in history, I can’t pass it up. From the time I was little, I was fascinated with Laura Ingalls Wilder, first in the TV show, and then in the books I collected, written by her. Her books were amazing and, watching Little House On The Prairie, I was fascinated with her life. So coming across this book was a bonus for me.
Stephen Hines has done a wonderful job in writing this book. It’s so informative on the life that was Laura Ingalls Wilder and I felt like I got to know her on a more personal level with this book. Reading about the faith that she had and leaned on so many times in her life, really encouraged me to rely more on my faith in times of need. The details that Hines included in this book were wonderful and really made her life pop for me.
If you want to know more about the young woman who lived on the pioneer trails and grew up in a real Little House On The Prairie, then go preorder a copy of this amazing book now. It’s definitely 5 stars worthy and will be on my Little House On The Prairie shelf for a long time to come. This book definitely makes me want to add visiting Laura’s home to my bucket list! Well done, Mr. Hines!
