Mandisa wrote her song “Overcomer” in 2013 to encourage her close friend Kisha, who was battling breast cancer. Mandisa really believed and prayed that God was going to heal her, but when Kisha went to be with Jesus in 2014, Mandisa’s foundation was shaken in a way she never expected. She fell into a deep pit of depression for close to 3 years, shutting out her friends, family and the rest of the world. Mandisa believes if she had kept going down that road she was on, she would not be here today…but God stepped in and lifted her out of that pit by using her close friends to communicate their love for her and God’s love for her. This album is Mandisa’s way of letting her fans into her story – it’s called ‘Out Of The Dark’ because that is exactly where God lifted her out of!

My Thoughts:
This won’t be a long review since it’s for a CD. It’s hard to write a three paragraph review for a CD. So, I’ll simply state my thoughts on the CD. Did I like this CD? No. I didn’t. I loved this CD. This is the first time I have heard of or listened to Mandisa, and I am absolutely in love with the power behind the songs of this CD. It’s absolutely stunning. I have not found a lot of CD’s that I enjoy every single song on the albums but this one……oh this one is my favorite and I love it all. It will move you, make you think, and leave you wanting to hit the repeat button on all these amazing songs. The CD also features special artists like TobyMac, making it an unforgettable, powerfully moving musical devotion! I highly recommend this CD with 5 stars! I’ll be sharing this CD with my whole family and hoping that my friends will enjoy it, too. I can’t wait to add more Mandisa to my music collection.

Hard to name one cd, there are so many. But I do love Matthew West’s Christmas cd. “Heart of Christmas”.
Toby Mac, Mandisa, Kutless. They are all uplifting if I need some Jam while I am driving along.
