#FirstLineFridays: Driver Confessional by David Winters

Posted 19 May, 2017 by Molly(Cover To Cover Cafe) in #FirstLineFridays, Weekly Memes / 24 Comments

I joined a new weekly meme last week called First Line Fridays. What is First Line Fridays?? It’s where we share the first line only of a book we are currently reading, or one that is on our shelves. So today my First Line Friday will be from Driver Confessional by David Winters.

Here is the first line of Driver Confessional:
The black American-made sedan rolled up in front of the Palm Restaurant near the campus of George Washington University.

I know. It’s not a long first line, but it’s one of the books I’m currently reading and so far it’s really good! Here’s more about the book:

Driver Confession by David Winters
Published: May 1,2017
A Washington Uber driver takes his faith to work, encouraging clients to share their problems as he drives to their destinations. His part-time job takes a left turn when a mysterious woman confesses her involvement in an international plot involving nuclear materials, Russian terrorists and a certain Senator.

My fellow bloggers are also joining the fun this week for First Line Fridays. Why don’t you stop by and see their posts too?

  1. Welcome!! Glad to have you join the fun
I thought I’d share something different here than the book featured on my blog today. This book is one my son is reading.
“Betsey Maxwell wearily trailed behind Loren as her brother dodged the muddy puddles, horse manure, and piles of crates in the narrow London street.”
    – The Thieves of Tyburn Square by: Dave & Neta Jackson

Welcome to FLF! I’m not a blogger, just an avid reader.
Here’s the first line from the book I’m currently reading.

  3. Wow! Great premise for a book! And welcome to the First Line team. 🙂

I have the first line from Erynn Newman’s debut release ‘Out of Darkness’ on my blog, but here I’m going to share the first line from Johnnie Alexander’s latest release, ‘What Hope Remembers’:

“The June sun beat on Gabe Kendall’s bare head and tapped into his childhood memories of the horse farm.”

    Happy Friday!

Happy Friday! Sounds good, and I will have to check it out.
My first line is: “My heart beat as if it was trying to build up speed and erupt from my chest.” From Warfare:Life After Book 2 by Julie Hall. Coming out June 13th.

  5. I enjoyed visiting your blog! Welcome to First Line Friday…one of my favorite days of the blog week!

My first line is from TURTLES IN THE ROAD, a humorous romance from mother/daughter duo Rhonda Rhea and Kaley Rhea. The book arrived yesterday, and I didn’t get to crack it open until 1:00 AM…but I just HAD to start it before bed! The first chapter is hilarious…and Piper is my new BF! — “Normally a nice long solo drive had a calming effect on Piper.”

    Welcome to FLF!

It’s a Regency weekend for me. Today I’ve started reading Carrie Turansky’s Edwardian Brides series.

Welcome to FLF, Molly! So glad to have you with us. I’m on the Litfuse tour for this book and it’s definitely interesting.
    Happy Friday, and Happy Reading!

  8. Welcome to FLF so happy to have you, and this book sounds great! This is the book I have just started to read; Mrs. Odboddy: Undercover Courier. By Elaine Faber ” Lighting flashed and thunder rattled the windows of Wilkey’s Market where Agnes pushed a little metal cart through the crowded aisle.”
But I do have another great mystery up today on the blog!
