Book Blogger Hop #2: Your Old Books…..What Do YOU Do With Them After Reading Them?

About the Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Ramblings Of A Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013.

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
This week’s question is:
What do you do with books you no longer want? Do you donate them? Do you take them to a half-price bookstore? Does a friend or family member benefit? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

My Answer
I do all three! I will donate them to libraries, thrift stores, etc, but I also take to used book stores, sometimes just to get rid of them sometimes for trade credit. But, I also have a some piles where I set them aside for my cousin or my grandmother. So, at the end of the day/week, I do a little of all three! It’s rewarding to share the books I enjoy but don’t want to keep on the shelf. I love to see others read and love to help them out with it!

How about you? Would you give second chances to authors? Leave me a comment below with your thoughts and a link to your blog post if you have one! Or just leave me a link to your blog. I’m all about blog following and I love to learn of new ones!

  1. Welcome to the Blog Hop!! Nice to see you joined us.

It is wonderful to share the love of reading, but I agree that you can’t keep every book. I actually took about 100 books to the local hospital’s library yesterday.

Another blogger mentioned taking them to a nursing home. That would be a good idea.

I do have a stack for family members too. 🙂

    Nice blog…going to look around.

    Happy Hopping!!

  2. It’s so nice that you have someone you can actually pass your unwanted books on to! Sadly, I have no one….my family members don’t read, and I have no book-loving friends near me, either. So I use the other two options mentioned in the question.

Have you ever thought of holding your own giveaways for some of these books you no longer want? I have. It can be a hassle, though, because you have to ship the books out yourself, and pay for the shipping. Obviously, in my case, such giveaways have only been for U.S. residents. Lol.

Thanks for sharing! Hope you’re having a WONDERFUL Sunday!! <3 🙂
