I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Author/Purchased and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.
My Thoughts:
I usually don’t read books about faeries and the like. I love werewolves and vampires but faeries…..well, they don’t hold my attention that well. However, I’ve heard loads of good things in regards to Ms. Kagawa’s writing style that I just had to give in and read The Iron King. It was my first read for 2015 and I’m happy to say that despite the fact that I don’t like reading about the Fey I’m totally into Ms. Kagawa’s work! I loved this book. It was definitely a great start to the new year!
The beginning of the book, I will admit, was a little slow for me. I had trouble focusing and staying focused. But, I was determined to read it…..and to like it…..so I pushed on and on and I finished the story in just one day. And, I fell in love with the story line and the characters. They become a part of me and the story swept me into the Iron Fey series with a whoosh. After the 4th chapter, I didn’t know what hit me, but I was turning pages faster than you can say “Kagawa”. Being swept away like that, is a wonderful feeling for sure!
The characters were awesome. Meghan really jumped out at me. I loved following her, becoming her as the story progressed. Her story was one of finding your true self. Finding out where you truly belong and what your life will become.
And Puck…..oh my! I loved getting to know him! His character was a perfect fit for the story!
With lots of twists and turns, Ms. Kagawa was finally able to help me stay engrossed in this amazing story. I am highly looking forward to reading the next book in this series! A definite 2 thumbs up for the talented Julie Kagawa! Well done.
