For Monica Scott, building her late father’s house at Lake Tahoe isn’t an option—it’s a necessary distraction from confusing memories and an uncertain future. But a handsome planner working for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) is keeping Monica from moving forward with the project. Never mind that he’s young and charming with a great sense of humor. No one is going to stop Monica from making her father’s dream—and her own—a reality.
All Greg Linsey wants is for his work to mean something. His job at TRPA gives him the opportunity to fight for the environment he loves and make a difference in his small corner of the world. But with the sophisticated Monica Scott’s arrival, his dedication is tested as never before, especially when Monica turns to his unscrupulous nemesis for assistance.
As Greg and Monica’s animosity turns into something far sweeter, can they learn to accept each other’s promises and avoid the growing danger to their lives and hearts?
Let’s Meet Greg Linsey
RBM: Hiya Greg! Welcome to Reviews By Molly! So glad to have you here today. How are you?
GL: Good morning, Molly. It is great to be here today. I am doing great, thank you, but am getting spring fever as you can imagine. 🙂 We will be gearing up for the busy summer season.
RBM: Tell us about your job, more specifically? What’s it like?
GL: As a planner for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, I go over applications for building projects throughout the Lake Tahoe basin. As you probably know, we have strict guidelines to follow in order to preserve the natural beauty of the region. We approve plans based on their compliance with these guidelines.
Sometimes it is tough because people want to build in areas that are environmentally sensitive. But it is important to preserve the beauty that is here.
RBM: Were you always into protecting the environment, even growing up?
GL: My parents instilled in me a love on nature, so yes, it has always been a goal of mine to work toward preserving the environment. It provides deep satisfaction when projects work toward that goal.
RBM:What was it like truly getting to know Monica? Can you tell is something about her we didn’t find out in the story?
GL: It was tough at first because she was rather single-minded in doing things her way. I had to stand firm, which was difficult because, as you know, I was attracted to her as a woman.
She comes off as being strong-willed, and she is, but inside she has a tender heart. I am very thankful that I was able to get through all the prickly defenses.
Monica is extremely loyal and her love is real. She has brought much joy and meaning into my life. She keeps me on my toes though. She is more dedicated to my cause than I am at times. 🙂
RBM: Of course I loved reading your story, but I thought Sandra did a fabulous job making me fall in love with Lake Tahoe too! If I were to visit Tahoe for a long weekend, what should I make sure to do while I’m visiting?
GL: That would depend upon what you really like to do. Are you an outdoor enthusiast? There is terrific hiking in the area. The trails along the rim of the High Sierras offer spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
If you like to be on the water, there are wonderful beaches, boating, water skiing, fishing, and tours of the lake.
Winter sports abound with excellent ski runs, cross country skiing, places designated for snow mobiles, and fun sites for sliding down the mountain on inner tubes.
The night life can be exciting if you like. In Nevada there are casinos with popular shows, there are wonderful restaurants in the area, and in August the Shakespeare Festival is a must.
I’m sure you will enjoy your stay here. We work hard at keeping the area attractive for the tourists and residents.
RBM: Do you have any pet peeves with Monica?
GL: She can be overzealous. Now that I have convinced her that preserving the environment is a worthy cause, she has me involved in all kinds of local projects…
RBM: How about Sandra? What was it like getting to know her while she chiseled you for the story? 😉
GL: Sandra was great. She made a real effort to understand my work and what we are trying to do at the TRPA. We appreciate her efforts to be accurate.
RBM: Anything else you’d like to add? Wanna tell Sandra or Monica anything?
GL: I love these women and am honored to know them. They bring out the best in me. *snaps fingers*
RBM: By the way, you’re my favorite character through all this. I was cheering you on and secretly wishing I was in Monica’s shoes. 🙂 Thanks for coming by today Greg!!!!
GL: Thank you Molly. That is a humbling compliment. I’m sure you’ll find your own hero. 🙂
(RBM:Oh I have……I have….I love him so much…he’s my very own romantic hero…. 😉 )
My Thoughts
I gotta be honest and say that I’ve never read a Sandra Leesmith book before but this will most certainly not be my last one! She is amazing. I loved her unique style and her creation of the story. She pulled me to the heart of the story instantly and kept me hooked til the end! I followed Monica and Greg’s story and felt like they pulled me into their home and hearts to stay.
I loved Greg’s character! I loved his heart, his personality and his way of life. I wanted to hug him so many times! And Monica…..bless her, I loved her, too, and found myself many times wishing I was her and in her shoes! The sparks that Ms. Leesmith created between Greg and Monica was perfect enough to keep me hanging on for sure! I loved seeing the walls fall and the feelings shine through!
I loved the feeling I got of actually being in Lake Tahoe. Ms. Leesmith’s vivid details really brought the story to life and made me want to jump in my car and hit the road to Tahoe!
With a touch of interesting twists and turns, Ms. Leesmith created a sweet, blossoming romance story that I’m happy to have a part of! It’s definitely worthy of high praises and 5 stars. I can’t wait to go back and read more of Ms. Leesmith’s work. She’s fabulous! Thanks to you, Ms. Leesmith for an amazing piece of work.

Hi Molly, Thank you so much for featuring Love’s Promises and participating on our blog tour. And thank you for the wonderful review.
Greg was really happy to meet you also. He loves talking about Monica. smile
Amber, I so agree with you. Molly did a fantastic job on her blog.
This sounds good! I actually am very passionate about the environment so this might be right up my alley! I don’t read many romance books, but I might need to make an exception here. 🙂
