ADD TO GOODREADS
Lance Corporal Bekah Shaw joined the United States Marine reserves to help support herself and her son when her ex-husband, Billy Roy, decided they were no longer his responsibility. But when her team is activated and sent to Somalia on a peacekeeping mission, Bekah struggles with being separated from her son and vows to return safely.
Once a successful Somalian businessman, Rageh Daud has lost everything. Determined to seek revenge on the terrorists who killed his wife and son, he teams up with a group of thieves, killers, and others displaced by war. Despite his better judgment, Daud becomes the protector of a young orphaned boy—who becomes a pawn between the warring factions.
To defeat the terrorists and bring peace to the region, Bekah and her team must convince Daud that they are on the same side.
Molly’s Review:
Growing up a Navy brat, and in turn marrying a former Army soldier, I am big on ready stories based around the military. When I read the synopsis of Deployed, I knew it would be a novel that both my husband and I would enjoy. I was certainly not disappointed! Mel Odom has done a magnificent job with creating an intense thrill ride of ups and downs with characters that become like family by the end of the book. The best news? This is just the first in this awesome series!
Bekah’s character was amazing! I absolutely loved her inner struggles, her need to protect her child and deal with single parenthood, and the strength with which she faced being a Marine. Watching her as she worked with troops in Somolia and the faith and hope that prevail through out her journey was incredible!
I truly loved every minute of this roller coaster ride. The intensity of military life, the courage and bravery of a soldier trying to do what’s right, wrapped up with tender, emotional characters is a story that will leave you begging for more! This author has amazing talent and I, for one, can’t wait for another amazing installment in the Called To Serve series! Four stars, two thumbs and definitely recommending this to all!
