I’ve been a fan of Stephanie Laurens’ work since I read some of her Cynster series books and was completely excited to jump into a new historical novel by the talented lady. Once again, I was blown away by the richness of her details, the charm & wit incorporated into her characters, and the spark-flying romance. That’s a firecracker combination, for sure!
Neville Roscoe is a hero anyone could fall in love with….I know I did! He’s left his family, his mother, sister-in-law,sisters and nephew, all to better save them from a ruination, after his brother kills himself. But, now, he’s a successful gambler…the head of the gambling society. He’s making a good reputation for himself, and is working with others to help them. And, to top it off, he’s got a beautiful young woman living next door…one who questions his happenings in his home.
Miranda Clifford is a beautiful young neighbor who is concerned about what her brother Roderick may be involved in when he sneaks away at night to visit the home of the successful head of gambling, Neville Roscoe. Following him there one night, she’s startled to come face to face with the enigmatic, completely sexy homeowner himself. What’s more is, she finds herself telling him that she thinks he’s partaking in hosting orgy parties. When she learns the truth of the matter, she’s surprised…..and pleased and willing to risk all to have the love of an honorable man.
Adding to these character’s story is the twist of disappearance and the carnal pull of sizzling attraction. This story was often fast paced, completely unputdownable and highly addictive!
This is another 5 Book hit from Ms. Lauren’s and I am hoping that she turns it into a series. The historical aspects are spot on and pulled me into the story. The twists and turns kept me hooked, and by the end, I felt as if the story was written about me. Feeling the emotions of the characters was awesome. If you’ve never read a Stephanie Laurens novel, you must! You must grab up a copy of this book and devour it :-). It is most definitely worth the time in reading it!
