Can you ever really go back to the past?

On her fifth anniversary with boyfriend Derek, Jamie Ross finds herself in a Montreal hotel room wondering how the carefree guy she met in a Chicago bar has turned into “the quintessential metrosexual.” Weighed down by Derek’s disdain for her second hand wardrobe, her unusual family and her low-paying job as an associate producer of a daytime talk show, Jamie reaches a breaking point. And when her new boss plans to reunite lost loves on the show, she remembers Lucas— the boy she’d loved and lost ten years earlier. What follows is a quest that is at times hilarious and at others disastrous as Jamie’s life transforms from run of the mill to absolutely crazy. But will finding Lucas give Jamie everything she’s looking for?

My Review:
Being divorced, I’m always looking for books that center on second chances, whether they are dark, mysterious, or just plain filled with romantic humor, I love a good second chance love story. Ms. Bailey has created the ultimate book of second chance love, and blended it with humor and romance in a way that will not leave you wanting in either aspect. Her writing style is beyond unique and instantly captures the reader, pulling them into a whirlwind story filled with characters that become your friends.

Jamie is a character that you can instantly fall in love. She’s in a relationship with a guy who has quickly gone from love of her life, to boring with a capital “B”. Yea. So, she breaks up with him. And not a minute too soon! Her boss is having a Lost Love reunion show, and she’s determined to find Lucas, her boyfriend from 10 years ago. Along the way of finding Lucas, well, we get a glimpse of who Jamie really is, who she is meant to be. I loved every minute of following her story!

Jamie’s “what-if” scenarios were laugh-out-loud fun at times, and at others they were frustrating moments, but through it all, you get a fun ride. Jamie’s life becomes yours while you dive deep in to the heart of the story, and by the end of the book,it’s a bittersweet moment having to say goodbye to the witty, humorous Jamie, but knowing that the end of the book comes with a much deserved ending (well, I won’t tell you what ending…that would spoil it for you!).

Ms. Bailey has embraced the essence of lost loves and second chance reunions in a 5 Book worthy way. I am glad that I had the chance to read this book, and it’s one that is on my forever shelf! I definitely recommend this book with two thumbs up, and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Bailey has in store for her new fans next! Amazingly done, Ms. Bailey!
