With his rugged good looks, vast wealth and family name, hell-raiser Hutch Carmody is still the golden boy of Parable, Montana. But he’s done some growing up, making peace with his illegitimate half brother and inheriting half of Whisper Creek Ranch, which should have been all his. These days, Hutch knows there are some things money can’t buy: like the heart of loving, ladylike divorcé Kendra Shepherd.

Kendra’s quiet mansion reminds her of what she wants most – a devoted husband and the pitter-patter of little feet. She can’t get Hutch Carmody out of her mind. But a rough-and-tumble cowboy like Hutch, coming home for family dinner? Seems crazy! Then again, crazier dreams have become reality under the vast Montana sky.

Author Linda Lael Miller

About The Author:
As the daughter of a town marshal, Linda has come home to the western lifestyle that gave birth to one of today’s most successful authors. She left Washington years ago and pursued her wanderlust, living in Arizona and London and traveling the world. Now the author of more than 100 novels, the “First Lady of the West” is glad to be back home, writing contemporary and historical stories that have earned her awards and placements on all the national bestsellers lists.

Linda traces the birth of her writing career to the day when a Northport teacher told her that the stories she was writing were good, that she just might have a future in writing. Later, when she decided to write novels, she endured her share of rejection before she sold FLETCHER’S WOMAN in 1983 to Pocket Books. Since then, Linda has successfully published historicals, contemporaries, paranormals, and thrillers before coming home, in a literal sense, and concentrating on novels with a Western flavor. For her devotion to her craft, the Romance Writers of America awarded her their prestigious Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.

Linda’s 2011 contemporary Creed Cowboy trilogy—A CREED IN STONE CREEK, CREED’S HONOR and THE CREED LEGACY, released in March, June and July, respectively—each debuted in the number one position on the New York Times bestseller list.

My Review:
For years, I’ve been reading Ms. Miller’s work. Whether historical or contemporary, Ms. Miller creates the perfect cowboy heroes & sweet genuine heroines, adding them to a plot line that’s always filled with a touch of humor, lots of spark-flying passion, good ol’ family values, and heart-gripping emotions. From page one, you are a part of the story, at home with the awesome ranchers.

Big Sky Mountain is book 2 in the Parable Montana series, and Hutch’s story. I had a love-hate relationship with him in Big Sky Country. He was perfect for his role, but he held so much angst for his brother, Slade. But, now, we get a whole new look at the sexy cowboy, starting with his wedding-that-almost-happened-but-really-didn’t to someone he really doesn’t want to marry. Ms. Miller brings out the humor instantly with that, and weaves it in from then on. But Hutch has a problem now that the wedding is off. He can’t keep his mind off Kendra, his ex girlfriend……or her sweet adorable daughter Madison.

Kendra and her daughter Madison are absolutely awesome characters! I loved Kendra in book 1, and I love her even more now. She’s gone from rags-to-riches-to-parenthood, but she’s determined to make a good life for herself and her daughter…….and steer clear of the man who once held-and broke-her heart. Except there’s just one thing…….she can’t stop thinking about him, and he says she left him to marry someone else all those years ago.

But, it seems the fates……and one adorable, lovable little girl, are there to remind Kendra and Hutch that letting go of the past and grasping the now is the only way to find absolute and complete happiness, not to mention smokin’ hot passion! The way the sparks flew straight off the pages when these two were near each other was incredible!

I loved book 1 a ton, and book 2 even more! Once again, Linda Lael Miller has hit it out of the ballpark with this new series. This is most definitely 5 Book worthy of highest recommendation! If you love smokin’ hot cowboys and their fun-loving gorgeous women, then you don’t want to miss Big Sky Mountain! I am absolutely dying to find out what happens with Boone and Tara (I loved their secondary roles in these first two books!) in the next book-Big Sky River. I’ll be biting my nails til it releases, for sure!

Thanks Molly for such a great giveaway. I love her books. How many books are going to be in this series?

    • Molly

Three that I know of, but the way the books are playing out, I can honestly say that she has the settings and characters for 5 in this series…but she may surprise us and wrap it all up in book 3…….:)

Thanks for sharing. Big Sky Country was a good read but was not my favorite book by this author. I look forward to going back to Parable and meeting up with the characters again.
