Star-crossed love, martial arts, and supernatural evil meet at the abandoned tracks in the deceptively quaint town of Middleburg…
When Ignacio Torrez moved from the rough streets of Los Angeles to a small town dead smack in the middle of nowhere, he never expected to find himself in the midst of a gang war. But, he soon learns, these are no ordinary gangs. The wealthy, preppie Toppers on one side of the tracks and the working-class Flatliners on the other adhere to a strict code of honor and use their deadly martial arts skills, taught to them by the wise Master Chin, to battle one another for pride, territory, and survival. When Raphael, leader of the Flatliners, falls for Aimee, a Topper girl, the rival gangs prepare for a bloody, all-out war. The only hope for peace between them lies within the dark territory of the abandoned train tunnels where the tracks cross. Under the direction of the mysterious and frightening Magician, the awesome power within the crossing sends the rivals on a terrifying mystical quest to fight the malevolent force that threatens the existence of Middleburg.

Wow! I am, once again, absolutely pleased with the work of J. Gabriel Gates and Charlene Keel! Bringing their fans the next installment of the Tracks series brings with it the amazing characters from book 1, and another roller coaster plot line. More of the forbidden love, more angst, more of the gangs, and more of the fighting.
Not only are the characters back and better than ever, but the supernatural is back and stronger than before. As the Toppers and the Flatliners battle their problems out with the forbidden love between Aimee and Raphael, things just get turned upside down even worse when Orias comes to town.
Jack Banfield is a character, though, that I can actually say is full of so much selfishness and wanting control that I truly dislike him. But with that said, he’s the perfect character to blend out the story. You’ve got to have at least one nasty villian in a great mysteriously paranormal book.
Of course, I can’t leave out Nass, Dalton, Maggie, and Zhai……their characters were once again vibrant and complex, making them the best additions to the story! With out them and the rest of the gang members, The Tracks series wouldn’t be complete!
I definitely recommend this 5 Book worthy Tracks installment! It’s filled with supernatural elements, the angst and jealousy, the war between the gangs and so much more. It’s got an ending that will leave you gripping your book, shaking, wanting more of the Toppers and Flatliners! I hope that there is more to come with these amazing characters with the best plot lines in Young Adult fiction today. As with book 1, this is one of the best YA books of 2012 by far, and I am desperate for more now :). Amazing job, Mr. Gates!
I haven’t read the first book in this series – so it would be something totally new to me but this does sound interesting and I’m intrigued by the star-crossed love and martial arts aspect of this series.
I’m glad that book 2 impressed you! Thanks for being on the tour.
