She has a secret to keep. But will she give her heart away?
Lucy Banning may live on the exclusive Prairie Avenue among Chicago’s rich and famous, but her heart lies elsewhere. Expected to marry an up-and-coming banker from a respected family, Lucy fears she will be forced to abandon her charity work and squeeze herself into the mold of the well-dressed wife who spends most of her time and money redecorating.
When she meets Will, an unconventional young architect who is working on plans for the upcoming 1893 World’s Fair, Lucy imagines a life lived on her own terms. Can she break away from her family’s expectations? And will she ever be loved for who she truly is?
Get swept away into the lavish world of Chicago’s high society as Olivia Newport brings to life an age of glitz and grandeur, stark social contrasts, and one woman who dares to cross class lines for what she believes.

About The Author:
Olivia Newport’s novels twist through time to discover where faith and passions meet. Her husband and two twenty-something children provide welcome distraction from the people stomping through her head on their way into her books. She chases joy in stunning Colorado at the foot of the Rockies, where day lilies grow as tall as she is.

My Review:
Olivia Newport is a fantastic author! I really was swept away by her writing style and uniqueness of her characters and plot line. She kept me hooked from first page to last and I loved every minute of this whirlwind ride! From Lucy’s sweet, heroic character to Charlotte her maid, the characters are both witty and complex, drawing you into the middle of historical story.
Lucy is all about her charity work. She wants to help the orphans and those less fortunate than she. But, she’s destined to marry long time family friend, Daniel. Daniel is a well-rounded man from a wealthy family. Lucy is expected to meet everyone else’s expectations and marry him. She feels she can’t for she wants more in her life than to be wealthy and live a life of high society. Daniel doesn’t believe that charity work is for her. But with the help and support of her maid Charlotte, Lucy believes that anything is possible.
Then she meets a handsome young man, a friend of her brother’s. From the moment Will and Lucy meet, there is a connection that you can feel between the characters. Lucy wants to be loved for who she is and Will wants to be that man.
This book is a powerfully moving book of relying on your own heart, and what God has in store for you. Trusting in yourself, in your beliefs and true love, Lucy and Will capture the meaning of the story wholly. I definitely recommend this book with 5 Books and two thumbs. Ms. Newport has gone to the top of my favorite Christian authors list with this one book, and I am looking forward to book 2 in this fantastic series, Charlotte’s story. Well done, Ms. Newport!
