My Review:
Jennifer Allee is a wonderful author! She took subjects that I’ve personally dealt with, divorce, Alzheimer’s, and pregnancy, and interwove them into a story that will make you laugh, cry and reflect on the things that are truly, truly important in live. Each page turn brought new aspects to the story and really kept me hooked until the end.
Natalie is a character that I would love to know in real life! She’s strong, independent and has just been given the shock of her life: her husband of 18 years has a 2 months pregnant mistress. Total shocker, especially for a Christian novelist like Natalie! Determined to make the best of it, they file for divorce, she kicks him out, and she rounds up her sister, Lindsay, who also happens to be pregnant. The settle in for the journey home to visit their mother who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease. But, the trip home isn’t not always that easy. From a stolen vehicle to a journey to forgiveness, these lovely ladies take you on a wild ride along The Mother Road!
When I think of Route 66, I can’t help but think of Cars The Movie. My kids love that movie and we watch it constantly. The song always pops into my head the minute I hear the words Route 66. Jennifer Allee has taken Route 66, or The Mother Road, and brought it to life for her readers. The scenery, the sites, all of it really popped for me, and I felt like I was in the backseat traveling along with these wonderful characters!
I definitely recommend this novel to all with high flying 5 Books! It’s funny, serious, and impacting all in the same read. It will definitely catch your heart with the inspiring events, and the messages of redemption and second chances. Well done, Ms. Allee, and bring on the next!
