Having watched one of the sweetest, most moving movies in a long time-Dolphin Tale- I knew I wanted to read this sweet looking children’s book. I was quite pleased that it was written by Nancy Stewart, who wrote Sea Turtle Summer, another book that I found to be well written and captivating!
Katrina is a young girl who was born with a birth defect that left her handicapped. It should have stopped her from doing so many things, but she was very courageous and pushed on, conquering lots of things that others wouldn’t have tried. When she goes on a family vacation with her parents, Katrina gets to meet Winter, a lovable Dolphin who has no tale. Through Winter, who uses a prosthetic tale, Katrina learns so much more about her abilities and what she can achieve despite her handicap.
Through the pictures of Katrina and her new friend Winter, and easy to understand words, Ms. Stewart has captured a wonderful inspiring story. Whether you are handicapped or just feeling down because you can’t quite achieve that goal, Katrina and Winter are two unique friends who can help you understand that anything is possible if you never give up.
Most definitely a highly recommend 5 Book worthy children’s book that is a must read for all ages!
