An Engrossing Story of Family Secrets and a Love for the Ages
When aspiring writer Michael Warner inherits his grandfather’s venerable Charleston estate, he settles in to write his first novel. But within the confines of the stately home, he discovers an unpublished manuscript that his grandfather, a literary giant whose novels sold in the millions, had kept hidden from everyone–but which he clearly intended Michael to find. As he delves deep into the exciting tale about spies and sabotage, Michael discovers something that has the power to change not only his future but his past as well.

My Review:
A long time fan of Dan Walsh’s work, I couldn’t wait to jump into this story. I absolutely adore the way Mr. Walsh takes deep, meaningful life events, and incorporates them into stories of love, hope, faith and second chances. As with all his previous novels, Mr. Walsh instantly pulled me into the middle of the complex story line, and held me til the very end.
Alternating between past and present, Mr. Walsh weaves a story of two authors, one a famous novelist and another trying to make their dream of becoming an author happen. Their connection? Grandfather and grandson. Michael’s grandfather is a suspense author who is at the top of his game. But, when he passes on, Michael and his wife inherit his grandfather’s home, and money. Once inside his grandfather’s home, he explores. What he finds within the walls is so much more than he ever bargained for.
Michael has found an unpublished manuscript written by his grandfather. Sitting, opening the pages, and diving in, Michael is taken to the past, to World War II and into the heart of a suspenseful, intriguing story filled with romance, faith and spies.
Not only does Michael get swept away by his grandfather’s work, the reader does too! With each page turn Mr. Walsh brings us something new and keeps us held through out the story. Filled with just the right of romance, and intriguing suspense, it’s his best novel yet.
I definitely recommend this novel with a high 5 Books worthy rating. It will keep you hanging on and never let you go, even after you turn the last page. Once again, Dan Walsh has written a novel that will be forever on my shelves to share with those looking for a fantastic book to read. I am looking forward to seeing what Mr. Walsh has in store for his fans next! Well done, Dan Walsh!
