Though she had planned to spend the summer in Vermont, Abigail Harding cannot dismiss her concerns over her older sister. Charlotte’s letters have been uncharacteristically melancholy, and her claims that nothing is wrong ring false, so Abigail heads west to Fort Laramie, Wyoming. When her stagecoach is attacked, Wyoming promises to be anything but boring. Luckily, the heroics of another passenger, Lieutenant Ethan Bowles, save the day.
Abigail plans to marry when she returns to Vermont, just as soon as she attends to her sister. As the summer passes, she finds herself drawn to this rugged land and to a certain soldier determined to persuade her to stay. When summer ends, will she go back East, or will she find her heart’s true home?

My Review:
Amanda Cabott is a truly wonderful author. She has amazing skills to take rich, deep historical aspects and blend them beautifully with a strong, captivating plot line and characters that steal your heart. This is the start of her second series, and what an amazing start it is!
With Abigail’s story, we’re swept away to 1885 Wyoming. Abby’s on her way to visit her sister, when her stagecoach is on the verge of being robbed. Abby left her beau behind in Fort Laramie, but fellow traveler Lt. Ethan Bowles, is there to save the day. Not expecting the feelings she is for the dashingly handsome Lt. Bowles, Abigail is left with a decision to make….a summer of whirlwind adventure, or a life time of romance with a man who holds her heart?
Lt. Ethan Bowles is a character I won’t soon forget! He sweeps dear Abby off her feet while helping save the stagecoach they’re on. Trouble is, she’s already spoken for back in Vermont. With dangerous adventures rising up all around, he’s determined to show Abigail a summer she won’t soon forget!
This is a sweet, mysterious, awesome book! God’s messages ring true through Ms. Cabott’s words and leaves the reader with a sense of page after closing the book. Sweet Abby and handsome Lt. Bowles are characters that become family in this 5 Book worthy story. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a clean, fun, historical novel. It’s the start of a wonderful new series, and I can’t wait for the release of book 2! Well done, Ms. Cabott!
