About the Book:
The small town of Parrish Springs is not quite ready for Matilda Honeycutt.

A strange older woman with scraggly gray hair and jewelry that jangles as she walks, Matilda is certainly not the most likely person to buy the old Barton Building on the town’s quaint main street. When it becomes apparent that her new shop doesn’t fit the expectations of Parrish Springs residents, a brouhaha erupts. After all, Christmas is approaching, and the last thing the town needs is a junky shop run by someone who looks and acts like a gypsy. But as townsfolk venture into the strange store, they discover that old memories can bring new life and healing.

Once again, Melody Carlson delivers a Christmas story that will touch hearts and delight the senses. Sure to be a classic, The Christmas Shoppe is filled with the special magic the best Christmas stories share—that intangible mixture of nostalgia, joy, and a little bit of magic.

My Review:
Are you ready for Christmas??? I am! I know, I know. Thanksgiving hasn’t even gotten here yet. There’s just something about listening to Christmas music and seeing the trees set up in Wal-Mart that really get’s me in the mood for Santa and Christmas. Songs like “It’s A Marshmallow World In The Winter”….um, yea. Anyway, so I love reading books about Christmas, too! So, for the start of the holiday themed book reading this year, I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing Melody Carlson’s Christmas book, The Christmas Shoppe.

I love her Christmas books. Each year she comes up with another one that continues to blow me away! The town of Parrish Springs comes to life for it’s readers. As quick as Matilda Honeycutt came to town and grabbed the old Barton Building up in auction, she brings the town mysteriousness and meaning. She turns the shop into a a thrift store filled with everything second hand. As the residents of Parrish Springs come into her shop, they find themselves refreshed and look at life differently. When the typical “scrooges” show up, she presses on, uses her love and outlook on life and showers them with the meaning of Christmas. All within the walls of The Christmas Shoppe.

If you are a lover of Christmas and fun, fast, heart warming reads, then this is a story you won’t want to leave off your wish list this Christmas. Just 176 pages, filled with love, hope and longing. The magic of Christmas season is told vividly through out Parrish Springs this holiday season. A definitely 4 Book worthy read, I am looking forward to another of these fantastic stories next Christmas!
