About the Book:
Miss Marian Wynswich is a rather unconventional young lady. She plays chess, reads Greek, and is as educated as any young man. And she’s certain falling in love is a ridiculous endeavor and vows never to do such a thing. But everything changes when she receives a Christmas visit from someone unexpected—a young and handsome English lord.

About the Author:
A newcomer to Cedar Fort,Inc.,Carla Kelly is a veteran of the New york and international publishing world. The author of more than thirty novels and novellas for Donald I. Fine Co.,Signet, and Harlequin,Carla is the recipient of two rita Awards (think oscars for romance writing) from romance Writers of America and two Spur Awards (think oscars for western fiction) from Western Writers of America.

Recently, she’s been writing regency romances (think Pride and Prejudice) set in the royal Navy’s Channel Fleet during the Napoleonic Wars between england and France. She comes by her love of the ocean from her childhood as a Navy brat.

Carla’s history background makes her no stranger to footnote work, either. During her National Park Service days at the Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site,Carla edited Friedrich Kurz’s fur trade journal. She recently completed a short history of Fort Buford, where Sitting Bull surrendered in 1881. Following the “dumb luck”principle that has guided their lives, the Kellys recently moved to Wellington,Utah, from North Dakota and couldn’t be happier in their new location. In her spare time,Carla volunteers at the railroad and Mining Museum in Helper,Utah. She likes to visit her five children, who live here and there around the United States. Her favorite place in Utah is Manti, located after a drive on the scenic byway through Huntington Canyon.

And why is she so happy these days? Carla looks forward to writing for an LDS audience now, where she feels most at home.

My Review:
This was a Holiday-tastic (I just LOVE creating my own words!) historical novel! Carla Kelly is superbly talented and her writing skills shine through with each character, each page, each twist in the story. I loved her use of details and the transformation the reader takes on when taken back to a Regency era to follow along side of Miriam. Ms. Kelly blends in the perfect amount of laughs and charm to make this a wonderful, inviting Christmas read.

Miriam. Oh boy. What to say about Miriam? Well, she’s a delightful character, that’s for sure. She’s a 17 year old young woman who’s head strong and devoted to standing up for herself and caring for others. Her father died on Christmas the year before, and now her family is a debt that now one knows how to undo.No one that is but Miriam. On top of that her brother Alastair, well he’s rather adventurous and can’t seem to keep himself enrolled in school. But, he can’t tell Percy, their big brother, or they’ll be trouble to pay! So, Miriam takes it upon herself to help Alastair out. What happens when Percy brings home two guests, one for sister Ariadne (who’s in love with someone else!), and one who sets his eyes on Miriam? What happens when Miriam makes a Christmas wish over the Christmas pudding? Well, you’ll have to read the story and find out!

This Christmas story is filled with lovable characters….LOVED Lord Ingraham, or rather Gilbert. His character was humorous! If you are looking for a sweet, laugh-out-loud, fast paced read, then I highly recommend Carla Kelly’s regency era Christmas novel. Filled with characters that will make you laugh until you cry, and sweep you off your feet, this laugh til you cry novel is a WONDERFUL! A sweet, high 5 Book worthy novel in my opinion and I will be reading this every Christmas from now on! Carla Kelly is going on my favorite author list and I’ll be adding her other novels to my wish list!
