About the Book:
In the aftermath of WWII all Jakob Wilheimer wants is to get over his pain, get on with life, and if at all possible, forgive those who’ve wronged his family — including himself. But it’s hard to do when there are constant reminders. One of them being his former schoolmate, now teacher, Meri Parker — Miss Port Delamar Pearl, Mayor’s daughter, Belle of the town — Meri Parker.

After enduring the stigma and isolation associated with the internment camp, the awkwardness of going back to school should’ve been a cake walk. But Jakob didn’t expect to find himself inexplicably drawn to Meri. Or to discover that the pain and loneliness of her life surpassed his own. She needed to be rescued from the wretched people seeking to control her life. And more than anything, he needed to be the one to save her.

About the Author:

Shawna’s writing journey started with a dream — an actual, nighttime dream. The story within her dream captivated her to the point that she became obsessive, and in order to put together all the little details and fill in the gaps, she had to write it down. Now she has two books based upon it.

Shawna is an Inspirational Romance writer, who loves creating complex, flawed characters, believing that’s the secret to making them real. And as an inspirational author, she is able to write about God’s Grace through her characters’ humanity. She also loves including a good dose of nostalgia in her work, which is why her stories tend to take place in small towns during the first half of the 20th century.

When she’s not writing, she’s spends her time with her husband and three children, reads, makes jewelry, and enjoys life on her family’s ranch.

My Review:
Alright. So, seriously. Shawna totally must have known that I would be a reader of this book at some point in time! Why do I say this, you ask? Simply because she used my oldest son’s name (Jakob) and spelled EXACTLY the way I do (not many people spell it that way) AND her character Jakob’s sister-in-law was none other than moi! Well, I can dream can’t I? Spelled correctly too, my name is Jakob’s sister-in-law’s name. And not to mention, that at one point, Jakob’s character had a dog named Max, and what do you know?! We have a beautiful black cocker puppy named…..yep! You guessed it! MAX.

So, now that I got that out of my system, I will go ahead and tell you that I LOVED this book! And, no, not because of those reasons I just listed. I love it because of the history to it. A time in the world when Germans in America could be considered spies. A time when, if you name even sounded German, you were ridiculed and tormented. But , above the history lesson….I LOVED the love story to this inspirational book! Shawna made her characters extremely deep. They were Christians in the true sense of Christians. Don’t judge. Don’t be unkind. But above all, love EVERYONE like He does. But, like every Christian now, Shawna made her Christian characters with flaws. They weren’t perfect. They held burdens. But, through Shawna’s amazing talent and words, she shows her readers how God’s love is like No Other….how He forgives us if we simply seek His forgiveness. And ,that it is OKAY to not be perfect, so long as we keep our eyes on Him.

With out a doubt, this is a fantastic 5 star novel. One of my favorites already this year. Of course, there are a few minor typographical errors that didn’t get corrected first (but, thanks to the author’s forewarning, I was able to over look them) but nothing that would stop this book from being absolutely fantastic. So, please. Get a copy of this fantastic novel and see for you self just what Jakob and Meri went through and how, with a love like No Other, God showed them the way.
