About the Book:
“It’s just as easy to love a rich man as a poor man,” the adage goes. But is the dream of fancy clothes, mansions, and fine dining worth compromising your morals and faith? Sarah McCabe must find her answer in Andrea Boeshaar’s Uncertain Heart, book two in the Seasons of Redemption series.
The Civil War is over.Sarah longs to escape the country and experience the finer things in life, so she leaves her home in Jericho Junction, Missouri, to become a governess in Milwaukee. Her rich and dashing employer, Brian Sinclair, shows an attraction to Sarah but doesn’t share her beliefs.
Richard, however, does. Richard Navis is Mr. Sinclair’s steward. He is kind, thoughtful, handsome…and harbors an unfortunate desire to leave his city job to be a farmer. Sarah has no interest in a rural farm life, even while her interest in Richard grows.

I absolutely, positively, no doubt about it, LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! Andrea Boeshaar is incredibly talented and each book she writes in this series gets better with each installment. After reading book 1, Unwilling Warrior, I knew I MUST have book 2. I waited anxiously for the release and when I got it, I couldn’t WAIT to read it! I started it on a Thursday evening and had it finished by Saturday morning.
In Uncertain Heart, Boeshaar tells of another McCabe family member, this one being the baby McCade, Sarah. Sarah is a sweet character and I really liked her vibrant, spunky spirit. She just wanted to prove her independence and follow her dream of teaching music in a big city. But then her uncertain heart meets Richard….and Captain Sinclair, her temporary employer.
I think, as much as I LOVED Sarah’s spirited character-and the tender Sinclair children- my heart took to Richard’s character the most. From the minute Sarah met him, I was captivated. He was so life like to me, and had me chuckling throughout the story with all his ribbing that he gave to Sarah. I wanted to hug him so many times! He lent depth, charm and wit to this awesome story!
But, above Richard, Sarah and all the other wonderful characters (even the cantankerous housekeeper!), I loved the transportation back into time. THAT is what truly gripped me. I could see the beautiful Sinclair home, the dresses Sarah and the other ladies wore, the attire of the dapper men, not to mention the trolley wagons! All of that and the message of surrendering to God’s will, even if your uncertain heart doesn’t want to, help to make up this fabulously amazing 5 star installment in Boeshaar’s Seasons of Redemption series. I highly recommend this book to everyone who has read Unwilling Warrior– you won’t want to miss all these fabulous books! It certainly makes me antsy for the release of book 3, Unexpected Love.
