About the author:
Suzanne Woods Fisher is the CBA bestselling author of The Choice, The Waiting, Amish Peace, and Amish Proverbs. Her interest in the Anabaptist cultures can be directly traced to her grandfather, W. D. Benedict, who was raised in the Old Order German Baptist Brethren Church in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Benedict eventually became publisher of Christianity Today magazine. Suzanne is the host of a radio show called Amish Wisdom and her work has appeared in many magazines. She lives in California.

My Review:
This review is a bit different. Instead of reviewing the book, I was asked to read through this and pick out my favorite proverb from the Amish and tell why, and then share something that my mother said to me growing up. So, my favorite one was:

It is hard to just pick one. The Amish are so wonderful with their words and wisdom, I want to pick them all. But since I have to pick just one, I pick “Raising boys is as easy as digesting iron.”. Now, you may say, out of all the wonderful wisdom, why on earth did I pick that one?! Well, the answer is simple: I am raising two boys and that quote is PERFECT! It helps to know that people as simply, faithful and loving as the Amish, feel that sometimes raising boys IS a little difficult. It helps me understand that if I stay strong in my faith, like they do, I can overcome the difficulties of raising them.

Now, for my family proverb: my mother always used to tell me “I hope your kids turn out just like you”, meaning that when I would give my mom hassle or be goofy while I was growing up and it would drive her insane, that she would wish it on me…well now, my boys are the SAME way I was and I say that to them often! LoL! Thanks, mom :-)!
