Kim Vogel Sawyer is such a seasoned author to be able to create wonderful Mennonite stories for both adults and young adults that capture the heart from the start. I think that’s why I’m so into her YA novels, because she can write a young adult novel with all the power, grace and strong Godly messages as she does her adult novels. With this series, she makes each book easy to read and better than the one before!
In Katy’s Debate, Katy Lambright is back and as sweet, sassy and witty as before in her Mennonite world. She’s still making new friends and trying to find her place in the English world and the English High School she attends while still holding onto her Mennonite beliefs and values. But this time, the twist is there’s a new crush developing, a new lesson in trusting God’s will, and even a new mom?? Hmmm….Sawyer really does it good with this story! Katy becomes your friend and makes you wish for one like her when you were in high school. She’s not afraid to face new challenges and take on the world, while showing young girls who read this story that it is okay to be different.
I definitely recommend this book and, of course, book 1-Katy’s New World, to all teen girls. It’s 5 star worthy and a great series perfect for all young adults!
