About the Author:
In a world that urges us to live for ourselves, Mindy Ferguson encourages women to live for Christ. She founded Fruitful Word Ministries in April 2003 and is passionate about encouraging women of all denominations to apply and abide in God’s transforming Word.
Mindy stumbled her way into the arms of Christ at the age of twenty-six. She speaks nationally at women’s events and at retreats as one who understands the tug of worldly passions and the emptiness of selfish ambition. Her writings have appeared in Christianity Today’s Kyria.com, the P31 Woman magazine, Just Between Us magazine, Chicken Soup for the Mother of Preschooler’s Soul, and the One Year Life Verse Devotional. Mindy is the author of Walking with God: From Slavery to Freedom; Living the Promised Life, Hugs Bible Reflections for Women, and The Women in Jesus’ Life.
Mindy is also the Women’s Ministry Director for her home church in Cypress, Texas where she lives with her husband of twenty-three years. Their son is currently attending college and their daughter is a junior in high school.
My Review:
When I was asked to tour Mindy’s book on my blog I was excited. It’s not often I get the chance to review a nonfiction book or devotional that I am actually interested in. After going through the list of Mindy’s books-all of the sounded fantastic!- available to tour, I settled on Hugs Bible Reflections for Women. I’m really glad I did! It’s something different from your normal Bible studies and devotions, but it’s still a fantastic book!
In Hugs, Mindy uses many life-changing stories, all from different women, to show other women who read this about God’s love and His “hugs” for each and everyone of us. Through these stories-some will make you smile and some will make you cry-Mindy shows how wonderful God is in so many ways. She helps us to have a better understanding and walk with God and how to open our hearts to Him and feel those hugs. Wonderful!
At the end of each story, Mindy incorporates a reflection section, with questions and Bible verse references, just like a mini Bible study. I loved that about this book! It really brings out the meaning to the stories and helps draw us closer to our Father.
I really enjoyed working through this book. My relationship with God is stronger for it. I definitely give this book 5 stars and recommend it to all the women out there: young, single, moms, grandmas, preacher’s wives, married. You’ll really be able to feel that much needed Heavenly Hug from a wonderful, loving Father!
