About the Book:

Caught between the wilderness and civilization, Morrow Little must find her way to true love.
Morrow Little is haunted by the memory of the day her family was torn apart by raiding Shawnee warriors. Now that she is nearly a grown woman and her father is ailing, she must make difficult choices about the future. Several men–ranging from the undesired to the unthinkable–vie for her attentions, but she finds herself inexplicably drawn to a forbidden love that both terrifies and intrigues her. Can she betray the memory of her lost loved ones–and garner suspicion from her friends–by pursuing a life with him? Or should she seal her own misery by marrying a man she doesn’t love?
This sweeping tale of romance and forgiveness will envelop you as it takes you from a Kentucky fort through the vast wilderness of the West.

About the Author:
Laura Frantz credits her 100-year-old grandmother as being the catalyst for her fascination with Kentucky history. Frantz’s family followed Daniel Boone into Kentucky in 1792 and settled in Madison County, where her family still resides. Frantz is the author of The Frontiersman’s Daughter and currently lives in the misty woods of Washington state with her husband and two sons.

My Review:
Most Historical books I’ve read as of late have been ones sent in the 1800’s to early 1900’s so this particular book by new-to-me author Laura Frantz was awesome for me, as it was set in the 1700’s during the British American War and the time of Indians. Laura Frantz has written a story for her readers that will draw you in from the first page, and make you feel apart of a time gone by.

In Courting Morrow Little, Frantz’s detail to the past and her characters is incredible. Morrow, Red Shirt, Trapper Joe- all of them felt very real to me. I prayed often for Morrow throughout the book. While I loved all the characters, Morrow was one that I felt a connection to. All she wanted in her life was to be happy and have a home. This pioneer story is emotional and wonderful as it throws the readers the message of home isn’t a place but it’s where your family, your heart is. Morrow’s trust in God to help her with her forgiveness of the Indians and making the right choices in her life was absolutely an eye-opening experience.

I am putting Courting Morrow Little at the top of my favorites list. It is such a beautiful book that takes you to a time and place many have long forgotten. Morrow, Red Shirt, and all the tender characters of this absolutely breathtaking 5 star novel will be with me forever. If you’ve never read a Historical or a book by Laura Frantz, I highly suggest that you get a copy of Courting Morrow Little. I am adding Laura Frantz to my long growing list of favorite authors and can’t wait for more books from this talented author!
