About the Author:
David Gregory is the coauthor of two nonfiction books and a frequent conference speaker. After a ten-year business career, he returned to school to study religion and communications, earning two master’s degrees. David lives in Texas, where he works for a nonprofit organization.
My Review:
Okay. Wow. Different. Definitely different. Honestly, when I opened the book and started reading it, I was really confused and didn’t think that I was going to like it. But I was willing to give it a shot and boy am and I glad I did. I ended up liking it ALOT better than I thought I would, especially since I have never read this style of book before nor had I planned on reading one of this nature either. But, David Gregory hooked me. It was a complex novel, one that I think mixes sci-fi thrills with heavy and deep Christianity.
David Gregory’s The Last Christian has the ability to draw the reader in almost immediately ( I say almost because I was a tad confused in the beginning) and grips them, taking them on a whole new futuristic adventure set in A.D. 2088. Man, what a different time! I was utterly fascinated with the plot the author created. A world of virtual reality, no books(definitely not something I would be able to handle in the future! lol!) or computers. Just the ability to “tap” into someone and there they are. Wow! And the heavy part is this: no one is allowed to speak of Jesus or Christianity else they face the problem of jailing. WOW. I can not picture a world like that at all! But the ending is a shocker that’s for sure! I enjoyed all the characters as well. Gregory did a fantastic job in creating Abby and Creighton, as well as the minor characters. They added supreme depth to the plot and really got my brain thinking about a world like that, and one lone Christian trying to help spread the wonderful Gospel. Amazing!
So, as you might have guessed, I ended up LOVING this book. I will definitely be looking forward to more books like this from David Gregory in the future. Definitely 5 stars in rating and I recommended it to everyone, especially if you like sci-fi thrills! It’s a thought provoking story!
