My Review:
I am not much of an exerciser, though, I need to get back into it! I had the chance to review this DVD for a blog tour and was anxious to see what it was all about. I am both happy and sad. I am happy that I have found a peaceful way to “work out” and “lose weight” but I am sad because I was expecting something completely different than yoga. As labeled on the DVD, I was expecting the “Christian alternative to yoga”. Well, to me, it was STILL yoga. The moves are the same, the warm ups and cool downs, all the same. The only thing that makes this different than yoga, is that there is prayer before and after, as well as during the moves. All the moves coincide with actual Scripture verses and “look” like something from the Scripture. That is a plus, I admit. I am not completely down on this DVD as I feel that it is a great way to “relax” as well as to loose weight. However, I don’t feel that there is much difference between the PowerPraise Moves and Yoga.
Another thing that saddened me with this DVD is the host, Laurette Willis. When she would speak and the camera angles would move, she stayed in one spot…didn’t turn her head to look at the camera or position herself so she was still facing the other camera, making me feel as though she wasn’t focusing on her “target audience”. I think that would need to be redone.
All in all, I do recommend this DVD if you are looking to loose weight and have a more peaceful spirit about you. No matter how out of shape you may be, and believe me, I am TOTALLY OUT OF SHAPE, you would benefit from this DVD. It is not high impact or fast paced like some workout videos are, causing us to lose interest. It is easy, low impact and soothes the soul with the added prayer and Scriptures. Overall, I give this DVD a 4 star rating and recommendation.
